Malaysia continues to promote healthcare tourism

Malaysia has been promoting its healthcare tour Since 1997. According to Max Wong,East Asia Director of Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), the country received 770,000 international Medical tourist last year. There is also a rapid growth in demand in Malaysia healthcare in China and Hongkong. Over the last 4 years in 2010-2013, the number of Chinese medical tourists rocketed from 8,000 to 22,000, ranking the 4th after Indonesia, India and Japan.
In 2005, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) began to promote medical tourism and then launched the Malaysia Healthcare logo and tagline "Quality Care for Your Peace of Mind'. In 2009 the government formed MHTC under the MOH. The purpose of MHTC is to streamline healthcare travel service providers and industry players in both private and government sectors so as to drive the industry to greater heights.
